China in Africa: New Imperialism?
The Africa-Chinese economic interests sparks a lot of debate among westerners. Fr Agbonkhianmeghe Orobator, Jesuit provincial for Eastern Africa, looks presents his views on Africa and China relations in an interview during his lecture in Canada entitled, Africa, Continent of Hope. According to Orobator, life in Africa experiences a huge economic growth but there is a need for government structures that assures sustainable growth through equity and justice. African leaders and Africans at large must take into hands their destiny in establishing democratic rule. In the new economic relationships with China, Africa has to negociate its way.
