Agricultural Research in Eastern and Central Africa (ASARECA) in Bujumbura,Burundi on 9th December 2013, outlines changes facing agriculture sector in Africa.
He calls on
change of mindset so as to revolutionise the current status of agriculture
- · Liberating Africa from donor dependency
- · Use of science and technology in Agriculture
- · Capitalising on regional markets and trade within Africa
- · Improving the transport system
- · Reliable source of energy
- · Scientists must translate their knowledge into farming practice
If these
challenges are faced courageously, Africa stands a better chance to produce
enough food for its people. Why do African countries need to import eggs and
chicken from Europe or America?
