Bp Augustine Shao |
The event was marked by the opening mass, installation of leaders of the association and a reception that took place at the seminary. The Eucharistic celebration was presided by Fr Augustine Shao, the bishop of Zanzibar. He is himself a Spiritan.
In his speech, Bishop Shao reminded the alumni members to give priority to Christian formation, renewal of the members and promotion of Spiritan mission. Thus, members should build a strong spiritual formation that will prepare members to participate in the Spiritan mission. To do so, members will have to learn the history of the Spiritan missions and activities.
The new leaders of the association were installed during mass. They are as follows: Alois Kilasara (Chairman), assisted by Emmanuel Shayo, Evans Shirima as Secretary, Gabriel Kilian will act as treasurer assisted by Lazaro Chami, and Adam Shayo is responsible of communication and relations.
The province of Tanzania was represented by the Provincial superior, Fr Amandus Kapele, Fr Justi Tarimo, councillor of formation. Others were Fr Silvanus Mringi, the rector of the seminary, Frs Nolasco Mushi, Clement Mushi, Dyfrig Maliti, John Assey, Joseph Babu, and Albano Mwombeki.
The provincial superior has asked Fr Evod Shao to accompany the members of the alumni association. The membership to the association is open to any former Usa Seminary Student.
